Are you bothered by fullness under your chin? At United Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeons John Larson, M.D., and Phuong Pham, M.D., can give you a firm, defined chin and jawline with chin liposuction at their offices in Newport Beach and Temecula, CA. Women and men appreciate the noticeable confidence boost that comes from this simple surgery.
Good candidates for chin liposuction, technically called submental liposuction, are people who meet the following criteria:
It’s important to understand that liposuction does not tighten the skin. If you have lax skin under your chin or on your neck, you may benefit from a PDO thread lift or neck lift.
Dr. Larson and Dr. Pham are experienced, highly trained board-certified plastic surgeons united in their dedication to superior patient care and surgical outcomes. They are committed to each patient from the initial consult to surgery to a personal phone call after surgery and beyond.
Our surgeons perform submental liposuction as outpatient surgery. The surgeon begins by injecting the targeted fat with a tumescent solution to numb the area and minimize bleeding. Next, he inserts a thin metal tube called a cannula through a tiny incision under the chin or behind the ears and suctions the unwanted fat away.
Dr. Larson or Dr. Pham can use the unwanted fat from this procedure to enhance other areas of the face with facial fat transfer instead of dermal filler injections. They can combine chin liposuction with other procedures such as a facelift and neck lift.
Liposuction under the chin typically requires about 3 to 5 days of downtime. Expect swelling and bruising for the first week or two. Patients are usually ready to resume nonstrenuous work and activities in about a week and strenuous exercise in about a month when cleared by their doctor.
Minimize swelling by taking the following precautions as directed:
