What’s involved in a Brazilian butt lift?

Dr. Pham performs Brazilian butt lift surgery as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. He uses liposuction to collect fat from areas like the abdomen, waist, hips, and thighs. Using a specialized centrifuge, Dr. Pham purifies the harvested fat cells to remove damaged cells and other impurities.

He then injects the purified fat into the buttocks in small, carefully placed threads above the muscle and fascia. Dr. Pham overfills the buttocks because not all of the fat will establish a blood supply in the new location. Fat that does not survive will be eliminated by the body within about four months.

What can I expect after having a BBL?

You will need to avoid putting any pressure on your buttocks for about two weeks to optimize the amount of fat that survives in the area. You must wear compression garments on your buttocks and liposuctioned areas to minimize swelling and pain and achieve optimal results.

Recovery Timeline

Recovery varies between patients and the specifics of each surgery. In general, expect the following typical milestones and timeline:
